Shawn Michaels The Rock Since World Wrestling Entertainment purchased World Championship Wrestling and became the only major force in U.S. pro wrestling, they've been in the business of giving fans "dream matches" €“ matches we never thought we'd see between wrestlers who had been long-separated by time, organizations, or mere circumstance. From The Rock versus Hulk Hogan to Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker, we've seen superstars clash across barriers that were once thought insurmountable. It seems like every dream match of the past generation has been realized. Except one €“ The Rock versus Shawn Michaels. The Rock and Shawn Michaels, two of WWE's biggest stars over the past two decades, have never faced off in a high-profile one-on-one match. What makes it even more remarkable is the fact that, unlike Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Hulk Hogan, and so many others, neither Rock nor HBK spent any time in a major promotion besides WWE. Instead, they simply missed each other's career highs €“ Rock ascendance began after Michaels had retired due to a back injury, and by the time he returned, Rock's wrestling career was all but finished. Still, a match between the two could have materialized €“ if not for the fact that The Rock simply wasn't interested. Shortly after he came in to WWE, Rock was taken under the wing of Bret "The Hitman" Hart €“ Michaels, meanwhile, was invested in protecting the career of his up-and-coming buddy Triple H. The HBK of 1997 wasn't particularly easy to deal with, and rubbed The Rock the wrong way during his early days. The Rock could pick and choose his opponents, HBK was back in action €“ but he wasn't high on The Rock's list. Unfortunately, it's the fans who suffered €“ Rock and HBK are both wrestlers so talented, so charismatic, that every storyline they touch seems to work out brilliantly. The same can be said for their matches. Even if there was bad blood between the two, the program would have been amazing €“ and here's why:
