6. The Promos
Both men have long been masters of talking the fans into the seats Michaels has a charisma and speaking style that manages to be smarmy and likeable at the same time, and The Rock is simply one of the best promo men in the history of the sport. As it's unlikely the two would touch much before a big match (aside from a Sweet Chin Music here or a Rock Bottom/People's Elbow there), the promos would have to carry the feud on TV. That wouldn't be a problem. It's not hard to imagine The Rock tearing into Shawn Michaels asking him what in the blue hell a "Sweet Chin Music" is, or why he calls himself "The Heartbreak Kid" when he's a senior citizen. Maybe The Rock could threaten to grab the ropes, start tuning up the band, lift his foot... and kick Shawn Michaels's monkey ass. An older, wiser HBK, for his part, can lecture Rock on the dangers of pride... while assuring him that he's still the best in-ring competitor that WWE has ever seen. Okay, so that's only five minutes of thought I'm sure those guys could have come up with something better. Still, we all know the pre-match interviews would have been amazing, and that's what makes the missed opportunity all the more tantalizing.
