WWE: 6 Simple Steps To Rebuild The Mid-Card Titles
4. Less Jobbing, More Stomping
Some of you may remember Antonio Cesaro's run as US Champion and how promising it looked in the tail end of 2012. Cesaro's devastating power and speed could be seen in his ability to lift up opponents many times his size and drop them for the Neutralizer- something that many thought could see him be a breakout star for 2013. Unfortunately instead Cesaro got caught up jobbing to several other stars as they legitimised their pus for Wrestlemania stardom- leaving Cesaro's legitimacy as a contender in ruins- not to mention the damage it did to the title he was wearing around his waist. To be fair, not everyone can be the next big thing and top carders need someone viable to face, but the US Champion and the Intercontinental Champion are just that- Champions and as such the Creative Team should book them as such. That doesn't mean they have to win every week but they do have to look like they deserve that title around their waist. So a consistent ability to beat the mid card as well as a occasional upset over the top card talent would go a long way to making the titles seem more relevant again.
