WWE: 6 Simple Ways To Make Dolph Ziggler A Main Eventer

3. Rip His Story From The Headlines

Dolph comes equipped with the perfect backstory: his own. He has the best reason to be angry, a real reason that most fans €“ if not already familiar with, can easily be brought up to speed €“ will buy into. He can plead his case for being dumped after his concussion, and for being punished for speaking up. They can make a series of well-edited videos, set to poignant music, as the WWE does best. It wouldn't take long at all to set the scene: there are hours of footage to work with, from the huge pop when he cashed in, to his interview with Arda Ocal where he says falling from grace "keeps him awake at night". They would dangle a carrot in front of him €“ a match against then-IC champ Curtis Axel, a match against Bray Wyatt €“ and then move that carrot beyond reach. They could show Dolph leading AJ and Big E down to the ring, the one to do all the promos and take center stage €“ then show AJ and Big E on their own, each holding titles. He's cut passionate promos on the App and on Smackdown, that have made the rounds online. It's time to bring them to the flagship show. His story is perfect because it gives him fuel to pursue either side of the roster €“ heels or babyfaces €“ depending on how they want to position him. He can rail against Triple H for being such a cruel puppetmaster; he can challenge Orton (who took Ziggler's spot in the main event picture last summer). Likewise, he can criticize Daniel Bryan's skills in the ring, and offer to show off against one of the best. He can destroy Big E on his way back to the top, finally getting closure on that drama. Triple H said it himself to Batista last week: this is the reality era. Dolph's reality can make for a compelling story.
