WWE: 6 Superstars Who Could Replace Roman Reigns In The Shield

6. Jack Swagger

Jack Swagger

The All-American American is currently a member of the Real Americans (I'm noticing a theme here) alongside Cesaro, with Zeb Colter as management. Now personally, I think Swagger growing a beard and pairing up with Colter was the best move in his career, he'd been stale as a character for a long time proceeding it. And when Cesaro was added to the mix, all the better. They make a strong tag team, the "We, The People!" thing was over with the audience, and Swagger's never been that good on the mic, so giving him someone to act as a mouthpiece made sense. However, there's a problem.... Over time, the whole xenophobic, mock tea-party gimmick got kind of silly (ironically, mostly due to Zeb Colter; you can only twerk and carry signs with bad puns on so many times before you sacrifice your dignity). On top of that, due to amazing feats of strength and swinging his opponents, Cesaro got popular with the crowd, whereas Swagger.... not so much. With Cesaro seemingly aimed for the title picture, management seems to be speeding towards the Real Americans breaking up, which would be a real step back for Swagger. If he splits from Colter, he still needs a mouthpiece. Fortunately, if The Shield have a vacancy, he'll be partnered with one of the best mouthpieces in the business in Dean Ambrose. Swagger has the strength to be Roman's rival, and he would add a technical, submission-based style to the group that, for all their strengths, The Shield have never possessed. For all the positives, I don't see this happening. Its a random addition to The Shield and moves Swagger nowhere on the ladder, a step sideways rather than up or down. Odds: 65-1
