WWE: 6 Ways CM Punk's Resignation Could Affect Daniel Bryan

3. The WWE Could Stick Its Head In The Sand

Wwe Network The big elephant in the room while all this has transpired is the launch of the new WWE network in February which is something the WWE will see as bigger than any superstar- even if he is CM Punk. So while the Royal Rumble crowd and CM Punk may have made the WWE seem less than brilliant over the last couple of days, the WWE will see the network launch of their main priority. The scary thing is when WWE have often been placed in a situation like this, they have gone with tried and tested formulas. One of the reasons John Cena is the biggest star around is not because there hasn't been opportunities for the WWE to jump on the bandwagon of another rising superstar, it's because the WWE are often not willing enough to give the new stars the time of day to spread their wings and build a following. When the Summerslam numbers came out as lower than last year, despite the PPV being a far superior product, the WWE almost seemed to rush John Cena back into a title match first time back. There is no doubt that the WWE is a business first and it should ensure that it is shored up financially, but there is a real danger that the WWE will see the Punk walk out and the Royal Rumble fiasco as things that could threaten the launch of their network. Should this be the case, the WWE could well believe that wrestlers like Cena, Orton, Batista and Sheamus are needed to steady the ship and keep everything on an even keel during this time of uncertainty. If the WWE decides that having a good looking 'brand ambassador' is more important for their company with the launch of their network that the best wrestler, then Bryan's woes could continue for a while longer yet.
