https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmXBOIQFhOc What WWE would get out of putting Mathews at the announce table is somebody with experience that could handle play by play duties along with Michael Cole. Mathews has been in WWE for over a decade and has experience working as a play by play guy, most notably on Smackdown, as well as filling in on Raw when they've needed him. He's really not a guy that has an outgoing personality or is going to make a lot of jokes while he calls matches. What he is most importantly to WWE is a guy that they trained from the time he got into the business (remember he got his start on Tough Enough) that knows what they want him to say to get their angles over. Mathews currently serves as the host of the Raw and Smackdown pre and post shows that air on WWE Network. It's something he's comfortable doing, but Mathews has the kind of talent that suggests he should be doing more.
