4. Mick Foley
If WWE wants to replace Lawler with a Hall of Famer then Mick Foley should be somebody they consider. What might make that difficult is that Foley has a busy schedule doing comedy shows. He's also not under WWE contract right now although like most legends, he'll show up if they need him for something. It's not like he's going back to TNA or doing something else in the wrestling business aside from the occasional indy show. Foley had a run as a commentator on the Smackdown brand that started in April 2008 during the Backlash PPV. It was a short run because on an August edition of Smackdown he was attacked and taken out by Edge, who WWE was building up as a vicious heel leading to his huge Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker. Foley never returned to commentary. He spoke about how he didn't feel comfortable at the announce desk with Vince McMahon shouting orders in his ear, so that's partly why his tenure was so short. That was six years ago. Perhaps Foley could get talked into an announcing position if it meant sitting in the big chair on Raw. He's a competitive guy. He might want to prove to himself as well as the fans that he could make the announcing thing work. What makes Foley a great candidate is that he's a very smart guy, he has a sharp wit and with 30 years of experience in the wrestling business he's truly seen it all. He's also one of the most beloved figures in WWE history. If fans like the announcers they're more than likely going to pay attention to what they have to say.
