3. Eddie Guerrero vs Ric Flair - WWE King Of The Ring 2002
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asXbA0K30N8 Never one to see eye to eye with authority figures Stone Cold Steve Austin spent the first half of 2002 feuding with the then General Manager of Raw Nature Boy Ric Flair. By the time that years King of the Ring rolled around the feud had taken its course and Austin was looking for a new opponent and program to sink his teeth into. In a stamp of approval from the biggest star in the industry, Austin handpicked Eddie Guerrero to work with. The feud started off well enough including a very entertaining Karaoke segment between the pair. Unfortunately before the feud could get out of first gear, Austin infamously walked out on the company after creative differences. With Eddie left hanging and Ric Flair still looking for someone new to work with it was natural that the two would end up thrown together. On the June 17th episode of Raw Flair would lose his position as General Manager and as a result started to cut a promo announcing his return as an active in ring performer. Eddie along with Chris Benoit would interrupt the Nature Boy and attack him to set up this match between the two at the 2002 edition of the King of The Ring. The pair had previously worked a number of matches in WCW this is the first time they would meet in the WWE. The underlying story at the outset of the match played up the fact that Flair was past his best and couldnt keep up with his younger adversary. Eventually the 16 time World Champion would ground Eddie with his unmatched experience. After a rather evenly matched contest Chris Benoit would interfere on behalf of Eddie this backfired however leading to yet another run in this time from Bubba Ray Dudley which resulted in victory for the Nature Boy. A great match that proved even 15 years past his prime, given time to work his magic the Nature Boy Ric Flair was still better than most professional wrestlers will ever be. Guerrero himself was just starting to hit his stride in the WWE by this point. Three years later he would find himself revered alongside Flair as one of the all-time greats in the business.
