WWE: 7 Huge Positives From 2013

4. Renee Young Revives The Backstage Interview

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djOVg65ngJw When you think of the classic 80s era of wrestling, it is not uncommon to visualize larger than life characters like Hulk Hogan, Randy "Macho Man" Savage and The Ultimate Warrior giving some of the most charismatic interviews in the history of wrestling. It is true that these men brought the characters to life, but oftentimes it was the man holding the mic, "Mean" Gene Okerlund, who got the ball rolling and really got the wrestlers to say what was on their mind. In a throwback to the back and fourth backstage interview of old, Renee Young does more than just ask a generic question and proceed to stand still with a mic. She really engages the wrestlers, helping them bring out their true persona. Renee's journey in the wrestling world is no different than a grappler who rose from the mid card to the main event. Before being seen on WWE programming, Ms. Young worked for the Canadian sports network The Score, and hosted a Raw and Smackdown wrap-up show. It's great to see someone who knows their stuff be given, and make the most of, such a great opportunity.
