WWE: 7 Huge Positives From 2013

3. Summerslam 2013 Sizzles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94QdlgT8ifQ For perhaps the first time since Wrestlemania X in 1994 (Bret vs Owen, Shawn vs Razor ladder match), Summerslam 2013 saw two five star matches be contested on one pay per view. There was a lot of hype for CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan vs John Cena. Both matches not only lived up to the hype, they exponentially exceeded all expectations. The battle of "The Beast vs The Best" redefined the David and Goliath style match. Brock Lesnar delivered punishing blow after punishing blow to CM Punk, but Punk kept fighting back with some absolute creative offence--at one point modifying his Randy Savage elbow drop by using a steel chair. Ultimately, with a huge assist from manager Paul Heyman, Lesnar came out on top. The main event of the show saw (then) thirteen time world champion John Cena put the WWE Championship on the line against Daniel Bryan. The Los Angeles crowd was ravenous, desperately wanting Bryan to win the title. The two superstars waged an epic war, with one of the highlights being a superplex by Bryan where he kept his legs wrapped around the turnbuckle, allowing himself to roll back up to the top and deliver his patented diving headbutt. Bryan won the contest with his newly debuted flying knee, but his victory was short-lived, as the immediate aftermath of the match saw Money in the Bank holder Randy Orton cash in his briefcase and win the title. Two flawless 25 minute matches will ensure Summerslam 2013 is an event that is talked about for years to come.
