WWE: 7 Huge Positives From 2013

2. Bringing Home Bruno

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPjszZQy1TU There is perhaps no adjective that can do justice to just how important Bruno Sammartino was to professional wrestling. While undoubtedly superstars like The Rock, Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan took wrestling to never-before-seen heights, without Bruno Sammartino, these superstars would have never had the platform that they did. Bruno was a builder of pro wrestling as we know it, and his nickname of "The Living Legend" is undoubtedly an accurate moniker. His eight year record as WWE Champion will never be broken, nor will his record for sellouts at Madison Square Garden. He is the Babe Ruth of professional wrestling--the measuring stick by which all other champions are measured. Yet unfortunately, after parting ways in the 80s, the relationship between WWE and Bruno Sammartino had soured. As other pro wrestlers and Vince Mcmahon managed to mend fences after a sour relationship, it seemed like Bruno and the WWE CEO would forever be at odds. Therefore, the pre-Wrestlemania announcement that Bruno would be in the Hall of Fame was a surprise--a welcome surprise--but a surprise nonetheless. Even more awesome, it appears that Bruno's involvement will be more than a one shot deal. As, in addition to his hall of fame induction, he was also heavily involved in the Best of WWE at Madison Square Garden DVD. By bringing Bruno back into the fold, the WWE now has the greatest ambassador of professional wrestling that they could ever ask for.
