WWE: 7 Possible Plot Twists For Elimination Chamber 2014
5. The Authority Turn On Randy Orton
Randy Orton's relationship with The Authority is tenuous at best. What began as the top heel alliance in WWE after Orton's win at SummerSlam in 2013, has now dissipated into one of the more curious storylines in the company. On one side there is Randy Orton, that believes his WWE World Championship should be protected from any and all threats. He feels that The Authority should be there to help him whenever he needs it, keeping his title safely around his waist. The Viper does not like to be put into situations where he is outnumbered or outgunned and every time he is, he complains that The Authority does not respect him. He believes that they do not have his back. On the other side is The Authority of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. For WWE's ruling class, Orton has become nothing more than a petulant child, a Superstar that cannot function without being coddled. They feel that his time as the face of WWE could come to an end at any moment and they are obviously very tired of Randy's constant complaining. The twist here is that The Authority was always more than willing to help Orton in the past. They used The Shield to help defend Randy, triple-teaming any Superstar that dared to question The Authority's rule of WWE. And now they suddenly don't care to help Randy at all. Gone is their alliance, as is their dominance in WWE. And even though this change of attitude certainly warrants it, the fact is that neither side has turned babyface. Because of that, fans have no reason to be emotionally invested in this angle. But could that change at the Elimination Chamber? If Orton loses the WWE World Championship, could The Authority then turn on their hand picked top guy? Could they send The Shield out to obliterate Orton while they stand on the stage, smiling at the destruction? Will this act of betrayal allow Orton the opportunity to turn face and wage his own war against The Authority? This angle has been full of very curious twists and turns thus far and there is no reason to believe that will change now.
