WWE: 7 Reasons Why Big E Langston Is A Star

5. His Lifting Is Legit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQbE_6YaomE Contrary to Chris Jericho's lame name-based taunts, the "E" in Big E does indeed stand for something: his birth name, Ettore Ewen. After finishing at Iowa State College (and playing on their football team), Ewen returned to his home state of Florida and hit the powerlifting circuit. To this day, he holds records for several categories in Florida's 275-pound class. So many guys come into WWE who are clearly no strangers to the bench. From John Cena to Mark Henry, and every Mason Ryan thrown in for scary measure, there are plenty of 24-inch pythons to go around. What makes Big E different? Well there's credibility in terms of the record books, and then there's locker room cred. WWE.com recently surveyed 9 of their biggest guys, and 6 of them named Big E as the most impressive bench presser they've ever seen in person. It must be noted that even Antonio Cesaro, who said we shouldn't care about such trivialities, named Big E. And when asked for advice on how to improve one's bench press, the Swiss strongman replied, "Ask Big E!" John Cena also chose Big E, and when John Cena gives you the nod, that's as powerful as currency in your wallet. At only 27 years old, Langston is enjoying the sweet spot of youthful self-awareness. He's still got a LOT left in the tank, but he's also got some wisdom to keep him grounded. You get respect from your colleagues by showing a willingness to learn, and if you're forming bonds with your fellow wrestlers in the gym, that goes to long way to making a connection when the bell rings.
