WWE: 7 Things Top Stars Did After Losing Big Matches

1. Get A Win Back On Raw Or Smackdown

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5yeoj_stone-cold-steve-austin-vs-kane_people They will do the match at a PPV (or "Special Event") where one guy wins clean and then the next night on Raw they'll do the rematch. Who wins that one? The other guy usually. Then the feud is back to square one. It's what we call "Even Steven" booking. Nobody really wins the feud that way. There will be times when they have the PPV winner also win on Raw as a way to end the feud for good, but a lot of times it's a way to give somebody their win back. It's just a case of booking things evenly because it's better than having one guy look really week. This is also something that has always annoyed me as a PPV purchaser because if you're asking people to spend $45 or whatever the cost is for a match and then you do it the next night that's just a slap in the face. Those PPV matches should be more special. They were special 25 years ago, but obviously the business has changed. Remember Kane's first WWE Title reign? It only lasted one day. He defeated Steve Austin for the WWE Title at King of the Ring 1998 in a First Blood Match (it wasn't really clean) and went into Raw as the WWE Champion. Austin got his WWE Title rematch that night, pinned Kane clean and became the WWE Champion again just like that. It popped a huge rating, but it also hurt Kane's win big time. This isn't something I like, but WWE does do it a lot with midcarders too. It's the WWE way of really pushing some midcarders to the moon while others like Kingston, Sandow, Barrett and guys like that end up staying in the same spot all the time. There are many instances of somebody getting the win back on Raw the next night after a big loss. It's the most common way to avenge a defeat whether we like it or not.
