WWE: 7 Unforgettable Matches I've Seen Live

5. Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit - WWE Raw 2004

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU74Mi8F1Ps This match is sort of famous because it was the night that Evolution turned on Randy Orton with the infamous thumbs down signal. It was a great match before that angle too. The night before, Orton beat Benoit for the World Title so they did it at the Raw I was at. We were sitting in the fourth row, I believe. There's a story here too. Prior to the main event, I went to the bathroom. As I was walking out of the bathroom, who do I see? Shane McMahon. I did a double take as if to say to myself "is that really him?" It was. I shook his hand (always wash after a bathroom trip!), he said "nice to meet you" and asked if I was enjoying the show. I said I was and back to my ringside seat I went. Shane watched the match right near us by one of exits. People realized he was there, so they figured he was doing a surprise run-in. He kept pointing to the ring so we wouldn't miss anything. After a great 20 minute match that Orton won, his Evolution buddies came out to celebrate with him. At least that's what we thought. Instead, Batista had him on his shoulders, Triple H did the thumbs down signal and they turned on Orton. It wasn't the greatest move since Orton was pretty bad as a face at that point in his career, but it was a memorable moment that was cool to see in person.
