1. The Overall Controversy
The bigger picture is this, a week into his new run and far from boosting the WWE product, Batista is in fact DAMAGING the product. Yes, he did boost Raw ratings, but the hangover from that success is staggering. The company are now lumbered with a wholly ineffective babyface character that no one wants to see main event Wrestlemania. If anything, future numbers are now going to go down because of Batista's presence rather than up. Coming off the Bryan and Punk heat he stands to be a heel for life now, with perceptions too sullied for him to work in a good guy role. That is ultimately the biggest controversy - WWE thought they brought back a massive face, instead (through the fault of Batista AND creative) they have now got a huge heel on their hands. And yet he is completely invested in as a babyface all the way through to April. Whether it was criticizing his colleagues, insulting the fans or his poor ring work, Dave Batista has certainly sent the internet wrestling community into meltdown in such a short span of time.
