WWE: 8 Embarrassing Early Gimmicks Future World Champions Want You To Forget

5. Kane €“ 'Issac Yankem DDS', 1995-1996

Only in 1995 WWE would it be perfectly logical for a wrestler having trouble with a rival to turn to his evil dentist for backup. That's exactly what Jerry "The King" Lawler did in 1995 when he recruited Issac Yankem to help him battle Bret Hart. It seemed that in 1995 every WWE superstar had another profession besides wrestler. We had a trash man, a race car driver, a plumber, and of course, a dentist. The oh-so-hilarious irony with Issac Yankem was that he himself had bad teeth. A dentist with bad teeth? How side-splitting! Needless to say, the gimmick did not make the WWE millions of dollars. It wasn't too long before Issac Yankem was jobbing to superstars left and right. Fortunately for the portrayer of the character, Glenn Jacobs, things would get a lot brighter (or, darker). He would be re-packaged by WWE management as Kane, brother of the Undertaker, and would have one of the most memorable (re)debuts of all time during the inaugural Hell in a Cell match between Taker and Shawn Michaels. Kane has gone on to be one of the longest-tenured wrestlers in WWE history, perhaps Vince McMahon's way of apologizing for saddling him with such a terrible gimmick early in his career.
