WWE: 8 Most Glaring Omissions From The Undertaker's Streak

6. Undertaker vs. Goldberg - WrestleMania XX

The Undertaker Goldberg Undertaker vs. Kane at WrestleMania XIV was a great WrestleMania match. It was a battle that was months in the making. The two beat the hell out of each other that night, and it took three Tombstone piledrivers to put Kane away. Somehow, Kane became a much bigger wuss over the next six years, as it only took one Tombstone for Taker to pin The Big Red Machine at WrestleMania XX. Sure, from a storyline standpoint the match made sense. Months earlier, Kane helped his boss Vince McMahon dispose of his older brother in a buried alive match. That was basically the end of the American Badass character. Months later, Taker wanted some revenge and re-emerged under his old Deadman gimmick. Although it was cool to see him going old school once again, the match itself was uninspired. A more intriguing opponent for him at the time would have been Goldberg. Yes, it sounds like an odd fit, but the two of them locking up would have been a true dream match that could have only happened once. During Goldberg's year in WWE, he was on Raw as part of the brand split, and Taker was on SmackDown. They never crossed paths. Goldberg, of course, was well known for his WCW streak of 173 straight victories. The storyline would have wrote itself. He could have mocked Taker's 11-0 undefeated streak and challenged him to settle things at WrestleMania. While it's doubtful that it would have been great from an in-ring standpoint, it would have been a huge spectacle. Had the match gone down, it would also have saved us from the infamous dud of Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg. Since that was both men's last match in the company, WWE had no good options to pick a winner and decided on Goldberg. Instead, they should have used him to put someone, anyone, over during his time there. Adding his name to Undertaker's list of fallen foes would have made the streak even more legitimate by having him cleanly defeat the best from WCW.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
