WWE: 8 Most Glaring Omissions From The Undertaker's Streak

4. Undertaker vs. Bret Hart - WrestleMania IX

WrestleMania IX is considered one of the worst WrestleManias of all time, and for good reason. We had Doink vs. Crush, Money Inc. vs. The Mega Maniacs and the colossally awful Giant Gonzalez vs. The Undertaker, in what was easily Taker's worst match at the event. We also were given a main event of Yokozuna taking on Bret Hart in under 10 minutes. The whole show was a downer. It was a toga party that you did not want to be invited to. What could have made things more interesting would have been a main event of Taker vs. Bret Hart. At WrestleMania IX, the WWF was in an odd place. It was the beginning of a new generation of wrestlers like Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon, but the company was also still stubbornly holding onto Hulk Hogan as their absolute biggest star. At the end of the night, Hogan won the title when he bigfooted Hart and easily disposed of Yokozuna after Hart failed to. Well, booking Taker vs. Hart would have saved us from that mess, as well as Taker's dud of a match. At that point, Taker wasn't the legend that he was today, but he was still one of the company's biggest stars. He had already held the WWF title, so he wouldn't have felt out of place battling Hart. He was also better in the ring than Yokozuna, and would have helped deliver a more satisfying main-event. And present day, it would look a lot more impressive on his resume by having defeated the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, instead of being knocked out with ether by the clumsy Giant Gonzalez.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
