2. Factions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g98rhQ2O_yc The greatest storylines in history have tended to revolve around certain factions in wrestling. The biggest angle in WCW ever was that of the NWO invasion and later dominance of WCW TV. During that same time period WWE would utilise several factions in DX, The Corperation, The Ministry, The Nation of Domination etc creating THE boom period of professional wrestling. Reports have stated that Vince has lost faith in stables but I say that has a lot to do with the Corre being an absolute flopfest due to bad booking. He must have forgotten that before them came the very successful Nexus who got people to stand up and take notice of these Rookies running a mock. Indeed the majority of this group are now staples of RAW each week. Factions work on several levels in wrestling. The main being that it gives creative far more ideas on finishes to matches due to interference, which alone branches out to even more options! It also puts lone wolfs over even harder as they repel an attack from an entire faction, cementing that talent as a superstar. Think about the amount of times The Rock battled the entirety of DX and came out on top to the delight of the fans. Factions are also a breeding ground of talent as the top guys will carry the group and those who are still a little green can be utilised without the spotlight in there face and given time to grow but are instantly over due to association. Factions battling each other will make money; groups fighting within their own ranks will make money and above all else its easy money! Creative would have many more options when it came to practically everything and merchandise would fly off the hooks if a group has a great gimmick and powerful imagery. It simply makes more and more sense. The good that factions can do is overwhelming and is something the WWE needs to do so that we lose the one on one bland confrontations we get nowadays. Not everyone is a superstar Vince, so why put them in the limelight solo?
