3. Rick Rude
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChfWHf2w95o This one also goes back to the Monday Night Wars, and another moment of infamy. Ravishing Rick Rude had been one of the most enduring characters in both WWE and WCW, with his narcissistic gimmick never getting old. A great wrestler, great promo and great seller, he was one of the most respected wrestlers of his time. And when an injury in a match in Japan in 1994 ended his career prematurely, his time on the sidelines was not permanent. Such was his promo ability that the WWE brought him back in 1997 as an insurance policy for D-Generation X. He never wrestled his Lloyds of London insurance policy pay-out prevented him from doing so, and his assignment of insurance policy to DX was a tongue-in-cheek reference to this but he certainly got himself involved at ringside. However, after the infamous Montreal Screwjob of 1997, Rude walked out in disgust. He did, however, come back a few weeks later, and all seemed well again. That was until November 17th, 1997. In those days, Raw went live every other week and was pre-recorded on the other week. Nitro, on the other hand, was live every week. During the first hour of Nitro, a moustachioed Rude sauntered down the aisle in his inimitable way and proceeded to cut a vicious promo, slating DX, Shawn Michaels, and the WWE itself, which he referred to as the Titanic, a reference to Titan Sports Inc, the WWEs parent company at the time. An hour later, the pre-recorded Raw aired, and a bearded Rude appeared on screen. If anyone was in any doubt as to which was live and which was old news, the state of Rudes facial hair told the story. Vince McMahon had been embarrassed on Nitro again. Rude had been signed to a pay per appearance format with the WWE and was therefore free to walk to WCW any time he liked. McMahon never forgave him. Rude passed away in 1999.
