WWE Adds Money In The Bank Contract Ladder Match

Seth Rollins declares himself as the first entrant in the match.

It's been speculated about for weeks and on Main Event, WWE made it official. There will be a second ladder match at the Money in the Bank PPV, this time with the WWE Title contract in a briefcase up for grabs. It's the same format for every Money in the Bank ladder match in WWE history going back to the first one at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. The match was announced by Seth Rollins, likely as a message from Triple H as Rollins declared himself the first entrant in the match. The winner of the Money in the Bank briefcase gets to cash in the contract on the WWE Champion any time in the next year. In recent years there were two briefcases (red and blue) that allowed somebody to cash in on the WWE Title or the World Title, but since those titles were merged into one late last year that means there will only be one briefcase up for grabs this year. It will likely be a black briefcase like it was when they originally did the MITB at WrestleMania every year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8vKRvYn7Lc As we already know, there's a ladder match at Money in the Bank with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship up for grabs. The seven competitors in that match are Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus, Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns and John Cena. The timing of the announcement is a bit weird considering there's only one more episode of Raw left before Money in the Bank on June 29th. As much as WWE likes to think that fans pay attention to shows like Main Event and Smackdown, those shows don't have the audience that Raw does. They probably should have announced the match this past Monday on Raw so that there was more anticipation leading up to it. A week ago I wrote about seven superstars that I thought should be in the second ladder match. My choices were: Big E, Adrian Neville, Bo Dallas, Dolph Ziggler, Rusev, The Miz and Bad News Barrett. I didn't include Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose because I figured they would have a singles or tag match at the PPV, but if Rollins is a part of this then Ambrose will be too. There are a lot of interesting possibilities no matter what WWE goes with. There have been no other names officially confirmed for the match. We'll likely learn more about it next Monday on Raw. When more names are added we will update you right here on WhatCulture.com.
