5. Authority Figure Upset With Fellow Authority Figure

Every now and then it needs to be stated how amazingly uninteresting it is to watch authority figures feud with each other. Back in 1999, if Steph yelled at Mick, he’d maybe pull a sock out of his pants, give her the Mandible Claw, and we’d all have a good chuckle. But now, we’re in a new era and both personalities are in much different places in their careers. Socks will stay in pants and nothing much of interest will happen.

Sure, Steph may have Braun Strowman beat up Mick and take him out of action, and then he’ll be replaced by someone like Kurt Angle, and then that will be fun for a few weeks and then...the exact same thing will happen. Angle and Steph will begin to argue, she’ll berate him, he won’t give her an Olympic Slam and that’s about it. Two years from now Broken Matt Hardy will be the GM of Raw, and she’ll slap Señor Benjamin and tell him how stupid Vanguard 1 is and he’ll just take it. She won’t then lose a match to his dilapidated boat.

Really, it’s tiring and frustrating to watch their segments play out knowing there’s nothing to ever really gain from it all. Mick won’t wrestle again, Steph probably won’t either. Nobody is going to house shows, and very little merchandise will be sold. You could possibly say it’s all one gigantic waste of time.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
