WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (August 3)

1. The End Of TNA?

TMZ reported this week that Impact Wrestling won€™t be renewed when their contract comes up in the fall. There are conflicting reports on whether the two companies are still negotiating, but no matter what, this represents a massive failure on TNA€™s part. They€™ve had since 2005 to move their ratings up just a couple tenths of a point. They failed. They€™ve had since 2005 to create one star. They failed. They€™ve had since 2005 to establish an identity as anything other than Diet WWE. They have failed miserably. The company doesn€™t even look like Diet WWE, they look like the dollar store WWE. So many of the biggest homegrown TNA stars have left over the past couple of years, and almost all of the former WWE and WCW guys left too. What we€™re watching is an overall depressing mess. It was perhaps inevitable that it would come to this. What makes it even more frustrating is that the last six weeks or so of Impact have been the best it€™s been in a few years. If the company had been more interested in pushing feuds like The Hardyz vs. The Wolves or hyping Bobby Lashley as a legitimate champion earlier this possibly could have been avoided. Instead, ever since Hogan and Bischoff left, the budget was slashed and Dixie Carter became the company€™s top heel. Hundreds or perhaps thousands of bad decisions have been made these past 12 years of the company€™s existence. Let€™s hope those in power finally get it in their heads that they aren€™t the answer, and that they need to find new people who have a better idea than to push a dead company over their own. Time to kick out.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
