WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Jan 17)

6. Steph vs. Paul

A recurring theme at Worst of the Week is: I don€™t get Stephanie McMahon. She€™s an unanswerable Seinfeld like question: what€™s the DEAL with Stephanie McMahon? She€™s all over TV, but she€™s a horrible over-actor and quite damaging to the overall product. It€™s always foolish when WWE pushes their family ahead of the talent, and Steph, through Paul, devalued Brock Lesnar. Good going. On Raw, Paul had a great plan. He was going to offer the winner of the Royal Rumble a shot to challenge Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania. In a way, it kind of makes sense. After all, Brock is the biggest attraction in the entire company, and because he never got a single fair shot to win his title back after losing it at Mania 31 (at Battleground, that jerkface Undertaker interfered in the match, costing Brock the win). Steph didn€™t like this, and proceeded to yell at Paul about how he€™s stupid and slimey, and smelly, and how smart she is...something along those lines. She said her daddy owns Brock€™s contract and he must fight in their upcoming 30 man match. Why do that? Why make Brock look subservient to The Authority? In what way is that beneficial to the company? Brock should be pushed as a merciless killer, a man who doesn€™t give a damn about what anyone tells him to do. That Brock equals money. But forcing him to be in the Rumble, and having him look upset about it is stupid. It only benefits The McMahons, and not in a money-drawing kind of way. What is the deal indeed.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
