6. Dean’s Retribution

Dean wanted to get some serious “retribution” (as the announcers said) on Randy Orton, and so, when he finally had his hands on him in the ring he...rolled him up? That sure taught him a lesson!

There's often a weird sort of disconnect in the world of WWE when it comes to some of their more personal matches. If Dean was really pissed off, he should have knocked his opponent out, but instead he went the sneaky route and then ran off into the night to dress up as the Mountie or steal a hot dog cart.

Besides the ending being lousy, and the match itself not being very good, WWE once again gave away one of the top fights they can deliver on one of their brands. Also once again, they got nothing out of it. Dean Ambrose is the No. 2 face on the show, and Randy Orton is arguably the No. 2 heel. That wasn't enough to even main event an episode of SmackDown!

The show would be better off modeling the NXT formula a bit, by at least running one or two squash matches a show. That way they can keep the top stars away from each other until it matters. That's likely not going to happen anytime soon, so everyone on the show will continue to feel painfully normal.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
