Triple H started out the night in what felt like one of the longest opening segments in some time. I could have watched Titanic in the time it took Raw to get to its first commercial break. The COO also got to close out the night by having a face-to-face staredown with Sting...from 500 feet away. But in the middle of the show, he found the time to just hang out and be pals with his old clique buddies, four of whom are supposed to be babyfaces. Well, maybe Shawn Michaels isnt? Did he ever apologize to Daniel Bryan for kicking him in the face and costing him the WWE Title? The skit ended with HHH breaking down laughing over Damien Sandow acting like a goof. He said he should be ashamed. Of what? Oh, of being the boss in an era that wasnt as good as the one that the clique guys were on? Nevermind the fact that part of the time they ran the wrestling world was in the days of Sparky Plugg and The Godwinns. But yes, Hunter should be ashamed...of Shawns acting! I know, I know, HBK is one of the greatest in-ring performer of all time. But man, does no one have the courage to tell him to turn it down a bit? He mugs for the camera in a way that would make Jim Carrey blush. His humor is just awful, and yet he tries, so, so hard. I think Id be fine with not seeing Shawn again on TV, until he agrees to act like hes over 15.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
