5. The Secondary Title Curse Returns

On Raw, both the US Champ and the Intercontinental Champ lost by countout. Titus O’Neil was so pissed off, and so upset that he was embarrassed in front of his family on Father’s Day that his revenge on Rusev was winning by count out. I mean, I would expect my own dad to pull something like that, you know, just let the heel go away largely unpunished and not take his title. But my dad isn’t a wrestler, so that kind of makes sense.

Anyway, the assault on the secondary titles continued on SmackDown. Rusev only won his match, because his opponent just won a fatal four-way match. That’s fine, no worries, typical heel thing. But the Intercontinental Title was devalued a bit further when The Miz lost to Dean Ambrose in a non-title vs. non-title affair.

Remember when Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan had the two biggest titles in the WWF, and they had an awesome showdown at WrestleMania VI for industry-wide superiority? This was absolutely nothing like that, just a forgettable SmackDown match.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
