WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (June 26)

4. The Saddest Prop In Wrestling

TNA does a pretty solid job of devaluing the prestige of one of their titles willingly. Years ago, Destination X was a pay-per-view built around the X-Division. That make sense, right? Now, it’s an event where the wrestler who holds the X-Division Title gives it up for a shot at the World Heavyweight Title.

To set things up for this year’s former pay-per-view event, the talented Trevor Lee dropped his title to Eddie Edwards in an anti-climactic matter at Slammiversary. Nine days later, Edwards then dropped it to Mike Bennett for the sole purpose of him giving up the belt.

Believe it or not, Josh Matthews tried to make Bennett’s entry into the division seem like a risky move as he listed off “The stars of the X-Division” which included Mandrews. Ah yes, a man that has won exactly TWO televised singles matches ever does pose quite the threat.

It would be wise of TNA to move away from that needless gimmick, but then the company would be one needless gimmick short than they are right now, and would have to develop a new one.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
