WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (March 20)
5. Drew Cashes In
Youre watching the Superbowl, The Broncos have just won the game against The Panthers. Theyre tired, worn out, beat up, but ready to celebrate. Suddenly, The Patriots come in carrying a briefcase, hand it to one of the refs, and its announced that whichever team scores the next point is the champion. The Patriots start with control of the ball on the 20 yard line, and immediately kick a field goal. They then celebrate as if theyd accomplished something. This is (roughly) the equivalent of what Drew Galloway did to Matt Hardy on Impact. The Feast or Fired briefcase is the exact same things as the Money in the Bank briefcase. Once you win it, you can cash it in anytime. Of course, heels are going to use it at the most opportunistic time, but faces should be a bit more...heroic, and honest about it. At the end of this weeks show, Galloway cashed in on Matt Hardy, who had just competed in a match. So, good for Drew? The more honorable thing would have been to do what Rob Van Dam did at One Night Stand 2006, and let him know it was coming. Drew did get to outsmart Hardy, but it still feels more cheap than anything. His celebration felt narcissistic and foolishly un-self aware, since he didnt really do much to win it. Drew finally winning a world title should have been a big feel good moment, because he was criminally overlooked in WWE. It still was a nice thing that happened, but a bit tainted. Also, Hardy is doing such great work that it seems far too early to take the gold away from him. Well, hopefully it all pans out for them, as you cant quite capture the feeling of a first title win again.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
