WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (May 17)

2. See Ya Later Bryan...We Hope

Well that€™s a bummer. The guy who was €œour€ champion, the man who put on thrilling matches, loved the business like no other, and was held back purely due to his size is gone for now. Or worse. The way he made things sound he may never come back. Even if he does return, there€™s no way that the top brass will ever put the WWE title on him again. His career has already peaked and his best days are surely behind him. It€™s always bizarre when a wrestler has to address a serious, career related issue. You have to have your guard up. Even as Bryan walked back up the ramp, I half expected him to run back into the ring, pick up the belt, start doing the yes chant and challenge Wade Barrett. When Edge retired, I wasn't emotionally prepared for it, and kept waiting for the angle to begin. And Mark Henry had me eating out of the palm of his hand, that he was calling it a career before he battered John Cena. You can just never tell. Maybe that's part of the fun, though. If this is it for Bryan, then it was one amazing career. It's just a shame that he didn't slow down sooner. Much like Mick Foley, the man could have stayed tremendously over due to the popularity of his character, and his charisma, as opposed to an unsustainable wrestling style. If he does come back, hopefully WWE has him work a safer style, so we can keep him around. It feels years too early to say goodbye.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
