As awesome as it was to see Sting in a WWE ring (I'll admit, even this jaded wrestling fan marked out), the question on many longtime fans' minds was not "What will he do next?" but "How long until WWE screws this up?" Well, in less than 24 hours we had an answer that question! Sting showed up in WWE for the first time ever. Every wrestler should have been talking about it in backstage segments. The announcers should have been asking non-stop questions of "Why is he here?" "What does he want?" "When will he be back?" instead it was largely business as usual. Unbelievable. This was the last big star from another company to ever show up in WWE. It may never happen again (unless Lucha Underground, TNA, ROH, or GFW somehow, someday catch fire!) Sadly, WWE couldn't be bothered to make it seem like a huge deal. Have they lost the ability to promote things as meaningful? Well, by the end of the show, the announcers were actually more interested in something else...
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
