2. Raw Ratings
Last year on Labor Day Raw drew a 2.81 rating. This year it dropped to a 2.44. Thats alarming. Yes, more people than ever are watching on DVR, but that does not explain that big of a drop in viewership. Unlike in the past when ratings started to take a hit, theres almost nothing else they can do now. There is no Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Scott Steiner type to bring in and create some buzz. Sting was the absolute last major star to bring in from WCW. Theres no inter-company dream matches left to book, as the end of the brand split has done away with that. Rock is busy with his movie career, Shawn Michaels is happily retired, CM Punk hates the company, and Batista has soured on the idea of returning at all after his last run. This is the present situation that WWE has created for itself after years of bad booking and overexposure. With the NFL back on Monday nights, things could get even worse. The sad part is that there could be a roster full of stars right now if the talent wasnt booked so poorly. Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Bray Wyatt and Rusev have all been given up on as top acts. Cesaro never gets any storylines, Damien Sandow has disappeared off the face of the earth, and nobody would care if Sheamus took two years off to film the next Ninja Turtles movie. We only have like four people that matter in the company, and that isnt enough to fill three hours. At one point the NFL feared the WWE and WCW. Now they probably are starting to feel pity, if they even think of them at all.
Andrew Soucek
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
