WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 17)

7. Corbin, Kane > A.J. Styles

I love Kevin Owens, and I love A.J. Styles, but it’s almost a shame that their big moments of finally winning the top titles in WWE came so close to each other. It’s not only because they're stealing a bit of each other’s thunder, but they’re booked so similarly that it feels kind of redundant.

Styles and Owens are both largely positioned as Vince McMahon’s classic chickens**t heel. Well, classic for him to the point that he gives the act to too many wrestlers. While the champs are able to pick up some clean wins on occasion, no one on the entire roster is intimidated by either man. On Raw, Hunter is the real boogeyman who strikes fear in the roster by randomly emerging from the shadows, and on SmackDown, we watched Styles search in vein for a tag partner. Baron Corbin and Kane turned down his generous offer as if he was Heath Slater.

Now, I get the height difference and all, but Kane is basically a mid-card guy these days, so hell, have Styles intimidate HIM. Or, I don't know, they could have done something crazy and had Kane or Corbin at least show some interest in teaming up with the best wrestler on SmackDown. That way A.J. looks like an even bigger star, and not a clown. Wouldn't that have been something?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
