WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 17)
6. So THAT’s Why Swagger Doesn’t Talk
Oftentimes I wish that wrestling announcers didn’t have to be mindless cheerleaders, and basically pretend that they haven’t ever watched their own show. Because when Jack Swagger went from Raw to SmackDown, JBL, Otunga and Ranallo all seemed to think this was a major coup. This was like Scott Hall jumping to WCW for them, when it should have been more like...well, Jack Swagger jumping to SmackDown in 2016.
Just the night before, Swagger lost to Jinder Mahal, the man who at that point was positioned as the weakest wrestler on the roster. That loss then made Swagger the worst of the worst. That's how wrestling math works!
The All-American American had not won a match on Raw or SmackDown since 7 December 2015. In fact, he only had three wins on those shows that entire year, two of which were against Stardust. So the three announcers should have said something to the effect of “Oh s**t. Jack Swagger? SmackDown really IS the B-show. What the hell were Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon thinking?"
If they still weren't convinced him joining was a mistake, they should have after Swagger's embarrassing performance on the mic. But WWE just insults our intelligence and spontaneously decided to say out of nowhere “The last two years didn’t matter for this character! If you paid attention, well, that’s on you!”
