WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 17)
1. Raw Does A 1.88
The 14 September 2015 episode of Raw averaged 3.39 million viewers.
The 12 September 2016 episode of Raw averaged 2.68 million viewers, drawing a 1.88 rating.
In the course of one year, 700,000 viewers decided that they just didn't want to watch Raw in early fall. Nearly twice of Impact's total audience simply said "screw this" and didn't watch.
That is incredibly alarming, but no one in WWE seems concerned, because the same massive problems persist.
Were these 700,000 fans turned off by the bloated three hour shows? Or were they tired of authority figures continually positioned as more important that every single wrestler? Or perhaps it was seeing children booked as more intelligent than The Intercontinental Champion? Or maybe it’s listening to villains promote Network shows with atrocious dialogue?
The best guess is that it’s a mix of all of that, and so much more. This company is a gigantic, overexposed mess of mixed messages, inconsistent storytelling, charity pandering, lack of star power and juvenile humor. To top it off, there's no one real good guy to root for. The biggest babyface story going on is that John Cena may yet win his 16th title someday. That's exhausting to think about. Will any of those fans come back to witness that? Why would they?
Imagine 700,000 more fans leaving WWE in one year's time. How many more people can quit watching before the people in charge realize there's no one left to blame but themselves?
Time to kick out.
