WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 4)

7. The Return of Ultimate X...Again

Ah, another week, another completely unnecessary X-Division spotfest gimmick match that means absolutely nothing the minute its over. A proud TNA tradition.

There have been 40 Ultimate X matches in the history of the company, three of those have taken place since June 15th. The once great gimmick is dead.

In the match on Impact, they also teased tension between Trevor Lee and Andrew Everett, which would mean something if TNA had ever given either one of them a storyline, or let either one of them talk on the microphone, or let Shane Helms (their manager who only shows up half the time) establish what The Helms Dynasty is about. They might as well just walk away from each other since they never established a relationship in the first place. It's just easier that way.

So DJ Z won the title again, which is kind of cool, but he just won a belt that Bobby Lashley didn’t even want anymore and willingly gave up. So, throwing basically every X-Division wrestler in the company in the match, despite most of them not winning a match in months, to win a belt that someone found too inconvenient to carry around doesn’t really establish that it’s suddenly a credible title again.

Well, good luck DJ Z, hope your run is better than the other six people who held the title so far this year!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
