After Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews had exceeded everyone's expectations, it was anyone's guess as to what match would open up the pay-per-view portion of the show. Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon hit the ring to reveal the answer, saying they couldn't think of a better way to get started at Backlash than by crowning a new SmackDown Women's Champion.

The Six-Pack Challenge turned out to be the third longest match on the show, coming in behind AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose and a lengthy battle between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. Running almost 15 minutes, the female showcase turned out to be exactly that.

Sometimes, WWE don't always treat their women fairly in terms of match time. There can be no arguments cast against the company at Backlash, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Naomi, Nikki Bella, Carmella and Alexa Bliss were given the ideal duration to work with.

As an opener, it was lively and entertaining. Running through a lot of content, the women didn't feel rushed in the slightest. They were viewed as the best way to set the show's tone.
