WWE Backlash 2016: 10 Things We Learned

7. The Usos Heel Routine Has Potential

It was only on last week's SmackDown Live that they made the leap, but The Usos already feel fresher than they have for years as heels. Encouragingly, Jimmy and Jey did away with their tribal entrance routine, one that gets the fans to chant the name of their team. That wouldn't fit their newfound attitude, and neither would garish face paint.

For that reason, the colourful markings also vanished at Backlash. Crucially, The Usos used under-handed tactics to advance beyond The Hype Bros in the SmackDown Tag-Team Title tournament. Polishing off their new act, the brothers weren't wearing their usual ring-gear, instead favouring a monochrome mesh style.

Everything about the new heel run, from that lack of kid-pleasing colour to more menacing facial expressions, just reeks of potential. WWE must give Jimmy and Jey the chance to make this work, they could be an awesome heel tag-team if given the right amount of time and character investment.

This became clear at Backlash, in both matches against The Hype Bros and the pairing of Heath Slater and Rhyno.
