A few weeks ago, a bruised and battered Heath Slater had a SmackDown Live contract in his very hands. Hilariously confusing Shane McMahon with his sister Stephanie was the final straw though, Shane removed the paper from a bemused Slater's grip and it looked like his chances of signing with the brand were all but over with.

Fast forward to Backlash, and Heath is now SmackDown's latest acquisition. By virtue of winning the SmackDown Tag-Team Titles alongside Rhyno, Slater is automatically now housed on the blue brand. In terms of storyline, this is the best thing that could have happened to the man, he's become a dorky-yet-loveable comedy act.

On SmackDown, Slater will get the chance to develop further. The Tuesday night show isn't quite as busy as Monday Night Raw, there's much more scope to stand out from the rest of the pack. Now, Heath can continue to team with Rhyno, possibly in a feud against The Usos.

At least until American Alpha make a return, that looks like the plan in the interim.
