5. The Miz Is Still WWE Intercontinental Champion

The second-longest match of the night, The Miz and Dolph Ziggler flirted with the 20-minute mark during their WWE Intercontinental Title struggle. That word is actually very appropriate, because Dolph started the match out with some mat wrestling, immediately displaying contrast between the styles of both men inside the ring.

In the end, that all counted for nothing, because Miz was the one to leave with his title. Having held the gold since early-April, there was always a chance that WWE would book a loss for the heel at Backlash. After all, Ziggler had lost out to Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam, and it could be perceived risky to write another major title defeat on pay-per-view so quickly afterwards.

That was the decision made, and even though it was Maryse who directly caused Dolph to lose, Miz is the kind of rogue character who can get away with the aid. Due to a lack of solid challengers, there's every chance this rivalry will continue into No Mercy.

That could be a date of fate for Miz, but he's still champ coming out of Backlash.
