WWE Backlash 2016: 10 Things WWE Got Right

1. Making AJ Styles WWE World Champion

It just so happens that those in charge of making the big-money decisions decided to go one step further with AJ Styles. As calendars greeted the turn of 2016, nobody could have imagined that Styles would be sitting on top of the mountain in WWE holding the promotion's top title. The WWE Universal Title may be on Raw, but that WWE World Title is still regarded as the biggest prize currently on offer.

Dean Ambrose didn't impress against Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam, the title bout between both men failed to ignite the way management may have hoped. Ambrose is arguably better as someone chasing the title, rather than in possession of it. Now, he has the opportunity to do that. If WWE put some more depth on the SmackDown roster, he'd also have the chance to turn heel again too.

As for AJ Styles, a feud with John Cena seems like a dead cert. The pair have worked magic recently, and will be expected to do so again. AJ's reign could be short-lived, but having him win the title was the right thing to do.
