WWE Backlash 2016: Ranking Every Match From Worst To Best
2. World Title: Dean Ambrose (c) Vs. AJ Styles
Result: AJ nails Ambrose with a low blow and hits the Styles Clash to win the title (25:01).
Rating: As a main event the atmosphere felt a little lacking at times thanks to the crowd, but it was nevertheless an extremely physical bout with the two fighting a brutal, rough style throughout that added a lot to it, especially when they ventured out into the crowd.
As expected, Styles of course outclassed Ambrose all the way and sold moves like his life depended on it. Ultimately it ran a little too long because the show was running so short, and it's a shame AJ couldn't win clean, but the sheer joy of seeing him hold the World Title trumps it...even if he deserved a much stronger crowd reaction. Shame, Richmond.
Overall a solid way to end the show, and the actual result itself ended up giving the match a huge boost.
