Fightful Select has reported that WWE told everyone backstage all employee raises and promotions had been frozen until further notice. The site added that the company's recent financial reports were to blame - WWE logged decreased revenue for Q4, but had record results for 2020 overall beyond that individual quarter.

This did not go over well.

The @Wrestlevotes account on Twitter then claimed that an anonymous source backstage at Tropicana Field for Friday's episode of SmackDown told them morale was low. The "unhappiness and straight up anger" of WWE staff was plain to see, and they described it as being at "an all time level".

Apparently, that extended to the talent roster too.

At press time, it doesn't look like any wrestlers have been affected the same way as office staff, but people still weren't happy with the news. @Wrestlevotes closed their tweet by saying, "Everyone from the boys to the road crew are pissed off" and said this was "not a good look" for WWE.

Fightful had earlier stated that WWE didn't gather everyone together for one meeting. Instead, they held individual ones, but word quickly spread behind the scenes.
