It was a strange sight to see Bob Backlund flipping out at Battleground, screaming and tearing at his shirt after being slapped by Maryse at ringside. Such a thing was happening on then-WWF television in the mid-1990's, so it's genuinely bizarre to watch Backlund still doing his crazy man act in 2016.

That's not a negative, just an observation. His man, Darren Young, lived up to his underdog tag by losing out to The Miz on the show. With the WWE Intercontinental Title at stake, Young saw his storyline dreams go up in smoke due to a double disqualification. There won't be any chance for Young to avenge this decision, he and Miz are going to separate shows.

There was really no need to take the Intercontinental Title from around Miz's waist anyway, he works really well as champion. Now, he can look forward to taking another challenge on SmackDown, continuing the great work he's done with Maryse since just after WrestleMania 32.

By virtue of the double disqualification decision, The Miz is still WWE Intercontinental Champion, and Young will likely go back to playing his underdog role on Raw.
