Just last Wednesday, The New Day managed to outlast the 331-day WWE Tag-Team Title reign of Paul London and Brian Kendrick from 2006. If they are still champions come SummerSlam, that will be around an entire year at the top of the tag-team pile in WWE. Maintaining the length of this stint as champs was exactly the reason why the belts weren't on the line at Battleground.

There, New Day faced The Wyatt Family in a six-man tag collision. The titles couldn't be on the line, because the popular trio were going to lose the match in the end, using the story of Xavier Woods being overwhelmed by Bray Wyatt.

At first, it looked like the match would actually be for the WWE Tag-Team Titles, but it was a shrewd move to place the straps to the side for one night and give Bray Wyatt and clan a major win.

Too often, Wyatt isn't booked to back up his powerful mantra on the microphone, so it was good to see him vindicated. That win was exactly why this wasn't a title match.
