Fire up Facebook, Twitter or any other social media platform, and prepare to be met with scathing comments directed towards the latest WWE pay-per-view. That's just the way things are, and people are certainly entitled to their opinion. Often though, it just seems like some criticise for the sake of it, without actually analysing the merit of their words.

Strange as it sounds, WWE can use such negativity to let them know what's working and what isn't, but they rarely let it govern the overall direction. When watching Battleground more than once, it becomes abundantly clear that the promotion managed to get a lot right.

There will always be grumbles, but these points prove that the event was a success by and large. Firstly, the title situations were agreeable, management made the right decisions to keep things sailing smoothly into the first brand extension shows.

Secondly, there were some legitimate surprises, audience-pleasing debuts and an emphasis on giving two of the best workers on the roster the chance to steal the show.

Here are 10 things WWE got right at Battleground...

10. Keeping The WWE United States Title On Rusev

As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. WWE should have heeded those words in 2015, but they decided to split Rusev and Lana. The result was an awful period for both, shunted into a lame storyline also involving the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Summer Rae. For the past few months, WWE have been trying to set things right.

Re-capturing the WWE United States Title back at Extreme Rules, Rusev has been a worthy champion ever since. Some of his challenges haven't been as strong as some would perhaps like, but the important thing is that he has remained in possession of the gold.

Zack Ryder was his latest opponent at Battleground, and Rusev escaped unscathed. His United States Title reign continues, which can only be considered a good thing. WWE are finally once again doing right by the guy, and there's no need to change anything at the moment.

If the company do give him another mega-lengthy tenure as champ, there's a chance he could be elevated further up the card.
