WWE Battleground 2017: Best Booking Scenarios For Each Match
1. Mahal Finally Puts Down Orton
This match features neither The Great Khali nor The Big Show. So, it will probably be the best Punjabi Prison match in history. Which is pretty much the equivalent of being the valedictorian of a home school. Still, Orton has demonstrated that he can put on a decent-to-good match when he tries.
This feud needs to end as quickly as possible. It would take the award for "Worst Rivalry Of The Year" if Dean Ambrose and The Miz hadn't been competing since Barack Obama was in the White House.
If there is one upside to Jinder Mahal, it's that he actually gets a reaction, so he's the easy pick for the win here. This also means that hanging onto the title for a bit longer can actually build up a new top heel on the brand.
Picture this: either AJ Styles or John Cena finally ends Mahal's reign at SummerSlam. The sigh of relief and excitement for the return of a legitimate world champion is felt throughout the entire arena. For a moment, that wrestler will instantly become the biggest face in the world. Then... BOOM, Baron Corbin cashes in, robbing the title.
If you want to build a mega-heel out of the Lone Wolf, that's definitely one way to do it. This type of reaction just wouldn't be possible if the championship was taken from Randal Keith Orton.
