If reports are to be believed, The Undertaker has asked that his 2014 opponent at Wrestlemania be none other than Daniel Bryan. Should Bryan be out of the Rumble, this is the match I would pencil in for him if I was in charge of the Wrestlemania card for a number of reasons. Firstly, even if Bryan loses, he can push Undertaker to the absolute limit and earn his respect. Imagine a moment at the end of the match where after a hellacious 20+ minutes of near falls, finishers and great storytelling between two of the best in the business, Undertaker wins the match then shakes Daniel Bryan's hand as a sign of respect. That would be enough to make this match worth doing. But suppose the Undertaker is thinking that Wrestlemania 30 is to be his last and he wants to pass the torch by doing the job to another superstar. There is no other superstar on the WWE roster that is in a better position to benefit from this than Bryan. John Cena is too old and doesn't need it while CM Punk's longevity to the company at 35 is not one that can be relied upon. But the 32 year old Bryan is not going anywhere and so long as he stays for another good five or six years, the WWE can make a lot of hay out of the fact that he managed to snap the streak. Not only that, but should he do so, I think that he would be able to stay babyface as well as he is that over with the crowd. Should the WWE do this storyline I would actually turn the tables a little bit and have the Authority allow the Undertaker choose the opponent he wants to face at Wrestlemania. Triple H expects it will be himself, Orton, Cena, or even Lesnar but the Undertaker floors them all by selecting Bryan, claiming that the reason he became the most feared entity in the history of the WWE was to challenge himself and his soul. He sees that same ambition in Daniel Bryan and so he wants to see the measure of him in the ring, not by measuring ratings and merchandise sales like the so-called Authority does. From there both Bryan and the Undertaker talk about their pasts as wrestlers and how they have never been the face of the company because they were too weird or too small (this is a little creative license, but go with it). Between them though, they know they have the respect of the whole WWE locker room and that their match will be seen as a massive moment in the history of this business. In conclusion, if Daniel Bryan does miss the Rumble it is a massive blow for the WWE. However, there are still options for him as he approaches the big dance in April at New Orleans.
